What runs where

Claspine Atlas, the self-hosted engine and self-hosted Spring Boot do not offer the same things. Check here before you plan an integration. AI coding agents can read the same table at claspine.com/llms.txt.

Three ways to run Claspine

  • Claspine Atlas: we run it at https://api.claspine.com. Your backend calls it over HTTP with a project API key, from any language.
  • Self-hosted engine: you run a Docker image next to your app. Your backend calls it over HTTP with a service key (Node.js SDK available), from any language.
  • Self-hosted Spring Boot: Claspine’s modules run inside your Spring Boot 3.5 application (Java 17 or newer).

What this means

  • Sign-in on Claspine Atlas: keep your own login (Spring Security, Auth0, Clerk, Cognito, Firebase or your own) and call Claspine Atlas from your backend with your own user ID. Claspine Atlas does not store your users’ accounts. Keep your own login.
  • Need Claspine to sign people in? Use self-hosted Claspine: the engine for any language, or Spring Boot.
  • Need permissions, organizations, push notifications, feature flags, domains or white-label? Self-hosted Spring Boot.
  • Email and WhatsApp on Claspine Atlas go through your own AWS or mail account; you set it up once (messaging guide).
  • Browsers and mobile apps never call Claspine with a key, on any form. They call your backend.
  • Start on Atlas, move later: export an Atlas project and import it into self-hosted Claspine.
